Behind the Bench

What began as a personal passion for intricate details and handcrafted beauty has blossomed into something I never quite expected. I've always been drawn to the meditative process of creating with my hands—there's something magical about transforming raw materials into something precious and meaningful. The rings I made for myself quickly became conversation starters, and before I knew it, friends and strangers alike were asking where they could get their own. That's how Iguanas Jewellery was born—from a simple love of the craft that I couldn't help but share.

Today, I work from my small workshop tucked away in Shoreditch, where every piece begins its journey as a rough sketch. These initial drawings evolve into detailed wax models, carefully sculpted by hand using the ancient lost wax casting technique. Working with wax heated to 300°C requires patience and precision—one moment of inattention and hours of work can melt away. But that's part of the beauty; each piece is truly one of a kind, never moulded or mass-produced.

Once I'm satisfied with every curve and detail, and the perfect gemstone has been chosen—each one as unique as the piece it will inhabit—the wax models make their way to the skilled craftsmen in Hatton Garden for casting in sterling silver. A few days later, I collect the freshly cast pieces, still warm with possibility. Back in the workshop, the final magic happens: polishing, setting the gemstones with care, and adding those finishing touches that make each piece sing.

From sketch to your finger, every ring carries the story of its making—and no two are ever quite the same.
